Tishan Hsu Unveils New Exterior Mural at Henry Art Gallery

Lisson is delighted to announce that Tishan Hsu’s new exterior mural screen-skin field: Seattle (Henry Art Gallery) is now on view at Henry Art Gallery in Seattle. Extending the artist’s ongoing investigation into the evolving relationships between humans and technology, the work builds on his recent series of wallpaper-based compositions, which bring together biomorphic, industrial and digital forms.

Since the 1980s, Hsu has explored how computational, medical and industrial innovations shape embodied experience. His practice examines the increasingly porous boundaries between the organic and the synthetic, drawing on imagery that recalls skin, membranes and digital matrices. In the new mural, contorted forms and distorted grids evoke the entanglement of bodily experience with the technological systems that increasingly structure contemporary life.

Conceived as an interface between information and sensation, screen-skin field: Seattle (Henry Art Gallery) invites reflection on the intersections of biology, technology and human agency, examining how emerging digital systems continue to reshape perceptions of the body and its relationship to the world.

screen-skin field: Seattle (Henry Art Gallery) is on view from August 2026 through January 2028 at Henry Art Gallery, Seattle.
