Opening soon at the Yale Center for British Art: Richard Long’s ‘Gravity’
Lisson is pleased to share that Richard Long: Gravity will open on 4 November at the Yale Center for British Art. A site-specific installation conceived for the museum’s Entrance Court, the work was made on site by the artist as a continuation of Long’s longstanding exploration of the relationship between art, landscape and the natural world.
As a pioneer of British conceptual art since the 1960s, Long has transformed walking into an artistic practice, using journeys, natural materials and temporary interventions to explore movement, time and place. From his seminal work A Line Made by Walking (1967) to his large-scale sculptures made from stone and other materials sourced from the landscape, his practice explores the relationship between sculpture and the environment.
The work is on view through 11 July 2027.
