Sir John Akomfrah in conversation at The Courtauld
Lisson is delighted to share that Sir John Akomfrah CBE RA will participate in the second Manton Centre for British Art Lecture at The Courtauld in London on 17 November 2026. The artist will be in conversation with Professor Dorothy Price, exploring his practice and contribution to contemporary British art and moving-image culture.
A leading figure in British art and filmmaking, Akomfrah is renowned for his multi-layered moving-image works, which examine memory, postcolonialism and the nature of time, often through the experiences of global migrant diasporas. A founding member of the Black Audio Film Collective (1982–98), he has continually expanded the possibilities of documentary and multi-screen installation. His recent projects include Listening All Night to the Rain, presented at the British Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, and The House of the Dog (2026), commissioned by The Menil Collection and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
