On 31 October, Lisson Los Angeles will host a conversation between artist Oliver Lee Jackson and curator Hamza Walker, marking the launch of a new publication dedicated to Jackson’s practice. The book brings together two exhibitions in London and Los Angeles, exploring the Oakland-based artist’s approach to the human figure across recent paintings and a group of marble and mixed-media sculptures.

Featuring an in-depth conversation with author and curator Ekow Eshun, alongside new portraits and studio photographs, the publication offers insight into Jackson’s artistic processes and distinctive approach to world-building. His compositions centre on groups of human figures – crouched, huddled, seated or seemingly in flight – whose forms mingle and merge through shimmering, skittering lines. Oscillating between movement, volume and abstraction, these dynamic gestures extend beyond representation, evoking a heightened sense of feeling, expression and intent.

The talk will take place on Saturday 31 October at 11am at Lisson Los Angeles. Light refreshments will be served.
