Lisson Artists Featured in TIME100 Art: The Most Influential People in Art of 2026

Lisson is delighted to announce that artists Dana Awartani, Josh Kline and Wael Shawky have been named among the inaugural TIME100 Art: The Most Influential People in Art of 2026, recognising individuals shaping the art world today.

Dana Awartani is featured in TIME in a profile by Sarah Cascone, who considers the artist’s approach to healing, repair and the preservation of cultural heritage. Her immersive installations bring together contemporary art and traditional craft practices, often responding to sites and histories affected by conflict. The feature highlights Awartani’s presentation for the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale, where she covered the pavilion floor with 29,000 handmade clay bricks referencing 23 damaged heritage sites across the Levant. Awartani will present a solo exhibition at Lisson Gallery London from 19 November 2026.

Wael Shawky is profiled by Kate Brown, who explores the artist’s approach to reimagining Arab history through film, theatre and puppetry. The feature highlights Shawky’s Drama 1882, presented at the 2024 Venice Biennale, an opera exploring the Urabi Revolt in Egypt, as well as his film I Am Hymns of the New Temples, which draws on Mediterranean mythology and is currently on view at M+ in Hong Kong. Shawky was also recently appointed artistic director of Art Basel’s inaugural fair in Qatar.

Josh Kline is featured in a profile by Julia Halperin examining his sustained engagement with class, labour and technology. Kline’s practice encompasses sculpture, video and writing, exploring the ways companies, technology and economic systems shape contemporary life. The article highlights his 2023 solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art and his recent essay ‘New York Real Estate and the Ruin of American Art’, which considers the pressures facing artists living and working in New York.
