Laure Prouvost: ‘Hovering Caress Amère’ at the 18th Biennale de Lyon

Laure Prouvost’s immersive multimedia installation ‘Hovering Caress Amère’ is now on view at the 18th Biennale de Lyon, running from 19 September to 13 December 2026.

The intertwining of narrative, language and sensory experience lies at the core of Prouvost’s practice. Through inventive storytelling, wit, wordplay and unexpected associations, her works open passages into alternative temporalities and spaces, shifting perspectives on questions of kinship, migration, climate change and interspecies relations.

The 18th edition of the Biennale, titled ‘To pass from one dream to another’, takes inspiration from Lyon’s traboules – passageways connecting courtyards and buildings – as a metaphor for moving between different modes of perception and collective imaginaries. The Biennale is directed by Isabelle Bertolotti and curated by Catherine Nichols.
